It has been a long time coming, too long in fact… but at long last, it is here!! I am so incredible stoked about my Nihola 4.0 family cargo bike, it is beautiful. I took the slow route in shipping to save some money, and had my new family bike shipped by cargo, across the ocean, into the port in Los Angeles, and then trucked north where it finally arrived safe in Fresno. Sure it took a month and a half, and yes I had some hair pulling moments dealing with custom’s along the way, but I did it, my bicycle for my family it home now. After tightening a few nuts and screws had to be tightened down, and filling the tires a little bit with air, it was good to go! Nihola delivered a completely assembled and ready to cargo tricycle. I will of course publish many photos of the inside, outside, and inbetween, but for now, here is me up on the trailer that I attached to my SUV to drive it home. I had originally wanted to ride it home, but my husband advised me to cool my jets. It was for the best, I needed to take it around the block at least once before I go on my first 7 mile trek. I did drive it home, as much as I was chomping at the bit to ride, and my husband came home very soon after and we unloaded it off of the trailer and rode around on it a bit.
Between you and me, this thing is a BLAST! It handles so nicely, seriously easy to turn, I can make pretty tight turns too, which will be very useful basically everywhere I go. And it has all kids of bells and whistles, many of which I was completely unaware of when I purchased it, but totally surprised when I found them Take the parking brake for instance, what kind of a bike has a parking brake? A Nihola Family bike does, that’s who! And there is a cute little matching red bell up on the top that has a charming ring to it. Plus, there is a kick stand at the front that is controlled by a level at the handle-bars, very safe.
So yeah, I am not usually one to toot my own horn, but this thing is just rad. I did get the electric assist on the the back, you can see the long rack off the back of the seat, that is where the battery sits. I will write more about the electric assist after I have had a chance to use it more thoroughly. All in all, I absolutely love my new bike, and I am so excited to finally start this adventure. Wish me luck!
